Testimonials from our families:
We had an amazing experience with Elizabeth – both as a birth educator and a doula. She guided us through the Hypnobirthing preparation process, which was intensive in a good way – meaning that there was reading material, breathing and visualization to practice, videos to watch, and audio guided meditations. Elizabeth helped us pace ourselves throughout the weeks leading up to the birth so that my husband, son, and I felt adequately prepared. For busy families like us, we found that she was extremely respectful of our time and schedule and showed up to meetings very prepared and professional.
As a doula, she was caring, considerate, kind and thoughtful. My husband and I both found her sympathetic and a great communicator. She took the time to meet with our midwife and level set around several key expectations. During the birth, I found her an absolute gem. She was everywhere I needed her to be and nowhere I didn’t want her. She encouraged me through difficult patches and acted as an advocate for me and my wishes. We had a home birth and it was beautiful and amazing with her as part of our team.
After the birth, she participated in the clean-up and the care of me and my family in the hour or two after the birth. She made sure we were all set to be on our own by the time she left us, snuggly together in our bed with our beautiful new baby girl. She also did post-partum check-ins giving me support around breast feeding, sleeping (myself and the baby) and paid special attention to my son both during the birth and after.
She is such a honored part of our family now that we invited her to the baby’s baptism and we were absolutely blessed that she and her family attended.
One of the best and life changing things to come from using Yelp was finding Elizabeth Cano Correa at Birth First. SERIOUSLY. My husband and I made a last minute decision to have a natural delivery without an epidural. When I say last minute, I mean that we were at 37 weeks. We knew we couldn’t do it without help and decided to look for a doula. We were so fortunate to find Elizabeth. She was amazing from day 1.
She’s informative, practical, helpful, honest, caring and super knowledgeable. She educated us on hypnobirthing and what to expect with labor and delivery. Her guidance and techniques helped us release a lot of fear of the whole process and to become more relaxed and confident.
When it came to the actual labor, we had a few unexpected hurdles. I ended up having to be induced and had a 35 hour labor. If it wasn’t for Elizabeth being there by my side, coaching me and encouraging me, I would’ve given up and gotten the epidural. She really understood all the medical recommendations that the doctors were pushing on me to “speed things up”. She came up with the brilliant suggestion to take me off pitocin which was sending me into overdrive. (There’s NO way that I would’ve known to ask that). With that one change, I was able to recover and move forward with the rest of my labor, drug free. She and my husband worked as a team to get me through the whole process, ending up with a healthy baby girl.
From before, during and after the delivery, Elizabeth was such a blessing. She sincerely cared about me and my wellbeing and backed that up with real knowledge and expertise. She’s found her calling in being a doula and I can’t recommend her enough. I KNOW that I wouldn’t have had the natural pregnancy that I wanted without her. I plan on telling all my pregnant friends about her and would definitely work with her again!
We found Elizabeth late in my pregnancy about 7 1/2 months and even so my husband and I learned so much from her Hypnobirthing classes ! When we met Elizabeth she was friendly, kind, and explained everything we had to learn with her, and on our own, so it can be a successful pregnancy! Even though we found Elizabeth late she still managed to teach me everything I needed to know and feel prepared for my birth! Since we liked her so much we decided to hire her as a Doula! We couldn’t ask for a better support system! She was amazing throughout the whole process and guided me through everything! Without her I wouldn’t have had such a smooth and amazing birthing experience with a quick, natural and unmedicated birth!
I met Elizabeth late in my pregnancy, around 32 weeks, and am so grateful that I did as she is an amazing doula and hypno-birthing instructor! She was highly recommended by a good friend of mine.
From the start, Elizabeth worked closely with me to help me prepare for a non-medicated birth in hospital setting even though I came to her late in the game. I was originally planning to do a routine labor/ get an epidural, but I changed my mind late in my pregnancy. She recommended that I take her hypno-birthing classes to learn relaxation and breathing techniques and affirmations. She was right on, as those techniques helped my baby and I to make it through childbirth in the best way for us. The training was very effective and helped me to not fall apart when the contractions got more intense and when some of my birth preferences had to be adjusted during labor. Elizabeth also met with my husband at our home in the weeks leading up to l&d to help him feel prepared for the big day.
Elizabeth was extremely supportive, professional and responsive right up to delivery day and was our right hand through labor and delivery. She kept me 100% focused and encouraged me through any doubts I had towards the end of what turned out to be a long 20 hours of labor from start to finish. She is a lifesaver and I would not have walked away from my labor experience feeling so proud, confident and strong if it wasn’t for Elizabeth’s support and training!
I found Elizabeth on Doulamatch.net and as soon as my husband and I met her, we knew she would be our doula. Besides her doula services, we enrolled in Elizabeth’s hypnobirthing classes, and with her guidance and support, my birthing goals were defined, improved, and achieved. I have and would strongly recommend Elizabeth to any soon to be mom as she was an invaluable resource and presence before, during, and after my first birth. Her professionalism, knowledge, and warmth gave my husband and I more comfort and confidence as we experienced the unpredictable nature of birthing.
Elizabeth recently acted as my doula for the labor and birth of my first child. My husband and I already have agreed that she was invaluable and will be one of the first people we call when we decide to have a second. Elizabeth is so wonderful and I would recommend her to anyone who is pregnant and considering doula services. She is kind, caring, thorough and has a wealth of knowledge when it comes to a woman’s laboring body. Five minutes into our initial meeting I knew I wanted her to be my doula. She has tons of information on natural birth, labor positions and goes through all birth preferences with both parents in multiple meetings prior to the big day. She is also available by phone to discuss and address any questions/ worries that may come up as the big day approaches.
When my daughter decided to make her arrival, not everything went as planned. As I labored, I dilated quickly and then took 8 more hours to finally deliver. My baby was in an awkward position and did not want to come down even though I was 10cm dilated. The hospital was quick to suggest epidurals, pitocin etc. Elizabeth worked with my midwife, husband and doctors as an advocate for me and my original birthplace to have as natural of a birth as possible. She helped talk me off the ledge many times when I thought I wanted to give up. She was so supportive and did whatever was needed to try to keep me comfortable and encouraged (massage, acupressure to increase contractions, use of essential oils, getting me ice/ water to keep me hydrated, speaking words of encouragement and talking me through every contraction etc. etc. etc.).
She truly loves what she does and her dedication to her clients is amazing. I honestly don’t know what I would have done without her love and support. I can not thank her enough for everything she has done for me and my family. Thank you Elizabeth!!!
Words cannot describe how grateful I am to have had Elizabeth right there through it all!!!
To begin, I had a very difficult pregnancy and Elizebath helped me remain calm and focused. She made sure I was aware of everything my husband and I possibly need to know before the big day.
I had to be induced due to medical reasons and Elizabeth was right there and thanks to her I managed to push off my epidural as much as I possibly can. She used acupressure to help me induce my contractions even more and to make every contraction count so we can avoid frequent dosages. She helped me control my pain when it was unbearable and I managed to push off my epidural until 8cm. I planned no to get it at all but due to all the meds I needed pin relief but it was still incredible and I was close to my goal only thank to her. I’ll never forget what she did for me. Honestly words can’t describe the support she provided for me that day. She was also an amazing help for my family. Everyone was emotional and she kept everyone calm.
I knew I wanted a doula, and my heart told me Elizabeth was the right one. I was right and I will forever be grateful for her. There is no price for what she did for me that day. She’s absolutely incredible!!!!
Elizabeth loves her profession and don’t mind spending extra time for her clients. She is a strong believer in all things natural. Her knowledge and strong belief about natural birth as a doula has helped me go through one–i was concerned about pain and was considering c-section, and I’m very glad I didn’t choose C-section. With her help, I managed to staying at home and dilated till 5 cm without any medication. She also helped me to get my contractions up by accupressure during delivery so I didn’t have to use too much pitocin. And when I chose to use epidural, Elizabeth continues to be supportive and helped me feel comfortable and confident during the rest of my delivery. I’m very happy that I’ve had this experience.
It is hard to put into words how incredible it was to have Elizabeth as our doula during the birth of our second child but I will try. If you are unsure whether or not you want to have a doula at your birth my advice would be to call Elizabeth now and don’t look back!
I called Elizabeth a week before I was due since we were undecided about having a Doula attend the birth. She spent so much time with us making sure we were prepared and that we were all on the same page. She was there with my husband and I as I labored at home. She was calming and reassured us every step of the way. She empowered me to achieve my goal of a successful unmedicated hospital VBAC! Elizabeth is the best and I am so thrilled she was with us for the birth of our daughter. I can’t imagine a better birth experience. She seriously rocks!
I am a first time mom and a bit of a nerd. I always wanted to have a natural birth. As soon as I found out I was pregnant, I started researching the best way to make that happen. I decided I wanted a doula to assist me with my birth. My family, my husband and most of my friends never heard of a doula and I received a lot of skepticism regarding my decision. However, I can say without hesitation, having Elizabeth assist me with my delivery was one of the best decisions I made during my pregnancy. Elizabeth was consistently personable and available throughout my pregnancy and after my son was born.
I made a detailed birth plan and one of my fears was having an induction. I thought if I had an induction I would not be able to withstand the contractions and my natural birth plan would go out the window. Long story short, unfortunately I had to be induced. As soon as I knew that induction was inevitable, Elizabeth and I worked on a plan. Her knowledge made it possible for me to better advocate for myself throughout my labor. She worked with my husband and I using accupressure, essential oils and candles to activate my natural contractions to the point the nurses were able to turn the pitocin off! After approximately 12 hours of labor, I had a beautiful baby boy. No epidural needed. Aside from my baby, the best feeling that I took away from the experience was the sense of personal empowerment. I had a lot of doubters, including the hospital staff but I think I used that negativity to motivate me. It wasn’t the birth I planned but it was best outcome for me. I am thankful Elizabeth helped make it possible.
PS- I took a hynobirthing class prior to delivery. Elizabeth encouraged me to take the class and reinforced the techniques that I learned in class during labor. I think that definitely assisted in keeping me from losing my ish during labor.
I absolutely recommend Elizabeth if you are searching for a knowledgeable, supportive and positive birth doula! We selected to have Elizabeth provide in-home childbirth classes, which were incredibly informative and helpful as first time parents. We were able to walk through techniques that both ourselves and Elizabeth would use during labor and birth, and go through our home to determine how and where to utilize the laboring techniques she taught us. My goal was to have a natural birth in a hospital setting, and Elizabeth was able to help me prepare using Hypnobirthing relaxation and visualization techniques. I was able to realize my goal of giving birth without an epidural and having Elizabeth by our side at the hospital was so helpful to make sure we were empowered to voice our desires when the doctors and nurses were not always supportive of our choice to have a natural birth. Elizabeth is an amazing support both leading up to and during the birth, she allowed me to feel relaxed and in control during the entire process and having a calm, strong and knowledgeable guide made the process seem much less overwhelming!
My wife and I began the difficult search for the perfect birth companion and in the beginning the choices seemed endless. After going through profile after profile, we landed on Elizabeth and were deeply impressed. Before even meeting her, we had a great feeling about her from her vast experience and qualifications. After the first meeting, we chose her on the spot and we were so excited to have her as our doula as she was extremely warm, professional, and cheerful.
Elizabeth came to our home to explain more knowledge and techniques. My wife and I learned so much and it provided us with so much confidence going into the birth. Elizabeth was always so fast to respond to any question we had at any time and kept checking in with us to ensure we were doing well and doing what’s best for mother and baby. She is so delightfully personal that we soon felt as if we had been lifelong friends. When my wife was ready to give birth, she coached us over the phone and enabled us to stay at home for as long and safely as possible until it was time to go to the hospital. She immediately jumped in the car and met us after midnight.
During my wife’s birth, Elizabeth’s experience helped us so much and her personality really shined through. She was assuring and not pushy, patiently led us through every decision and left us feeling totally empowered. Elizabeth played such an important and supportive role that helped my wife and I feel confident. Her aromatherapy and homeopathic knowledge provided my wife with much needed energy when she was pushing. We had such a positive birth experience with Elizabeth. She truly cares about her clients, truly enjoys her work and her goal is to ensure that you have the best possible birthing. If you are looking for an experienced, knowledgeable, comforting, and compassionate doula, we highly recommend Elizabeth. She is truly an excellent doula!
My view as the husband and first-time parent. We had the absolute best experience with Elizabeth.
My wife and I first met Elizabeth through her birthing class, which I was skeptical at first about just because I’m the type to read and check YouTube for the info myself. It was a quick 6-hour class which seems like it might drag but ELIZABETH has so much knowledge to pass on and just about every answer To all of our many questions. We weren’t really considering a doula but after meeting Elizabeth and talking to her about our birth plan, we felt it would be best to have someone so knowledgeable along the way.
My wife’s labor was a long and tiring one. But with Elizabeth’s guidance she was able to muster the strength to push on through. As a first time father and just as a man period it’s hard to give advice to your wife and to try to help as she’s in so much pain but Elizabeth really helped me to stay focus and to keep motivating my wife. The best way I could sum it up is having Elizabeth from the class all the way to the birth of our daughter was like having Bear Grylls with you on a treacherous mountain climb. Just about anything can happen along the way but she shows you all of the tricks and keep you calm along the way.
It was a very special moment for my wife and I and were so appreciative for all of Elizabeth’s help. I cannot express how happy we were with our very special doula. Highly recommended.
Giving birth is a very personal and special event in one’s life. I was so very lucky to have Elizabeth help me with both my births. Both of my children were over 10 days late! In my first birth my OB insisted I get induced which lead to a long painful labor. Elizabeth was at my side for 16 hours helping my husband and I through the entire process. Her presence by our side was a tremendously calming influence through a long painful day.
I promised myself not to get bullied by my new doctor the second time around, I wanted to avoid being induced if at all possible. Elizabeth help me focus on writing a birth plan which help me hone in on the birth I wanted. The plan empowered me to talk to my doctor and set-up some pre-cautionary measures (no-induction, natural birth, no pictocin, no catheters, etc.). Again my baby was late. This time Elizabeth and I worked out a plan for a “home induction” (castor oil and exercises). My baby needed a bit of a “motivation” to get out. Elizabeth was with me every step of the way and her plan worked! Thanks to her I got the natural, quick birth I wanted and we now have a beautiful daughter.
Elizabeth’s strength is her desire to educate her clients before the birth and then be a calm reassuring presence during the stress and blinding pain of labor. Her steadiness during labor help me work through the pain and appreciate the wonder of having a natural birth.

My wife used Elizabeth for Childbirth services and for a doula. Elizabeth’s attitude, ability and assurances were vital in my wife having an all natural birth free of complications. In the weeks leading up to the big day, Elizabeth came to our home and taught us about what to expect and different ways to ease along the labor process. Her informal lessons were enormously helpful to us. While we received a lot of skepticism from our family, friends and doctors about doing a drug free all natural birth, Elizabeth’s guidance and coaching proved them all wrong. On the big day my wife went into labor in the early evening and Elizabeth was with us every step of the way from being in our home coaching my wife and going into her bag of tricks to ease the birth along, to being with us in the hospital for fourteen hours.
If you want a doula or a private birth consultant, there is no one better for the job that Elizabeth. She truly cares about her clients and has been checking on my wife regularly to make sure she and the baby are doing well.
We had a private birthing class in our home with Elizabeth Cano-Correa. As first time parents-to-be, Elizabeth helped ease our anxieties about delivery. She custom tailored our lessons to focus on twins and included information on a natural delivery and the possibility of a c-section. She taught us many helpful techniques and exercises to get through labor. You can tell she genuinely cares and she really takes her time to make sure you understand and can do the exercises! I am not athletic or flexible at all, but she was so patient working with me to help nail down those exercises to help the babies turn!
I have always admired the work of professionals involved in birth. Have always enjoyed listening to birth stories and reading about the subject as I was figuring out my role as a new mother, however it was only through Elizabeth’s touching work and knowledge that my view broadened and started to take shape, that my deepest feelings about it emerged and I was able to allow them the space and attention they needed and to learn from them.
Elizabeth’s knowledge, honesty and experience brought us, my husband and I, confidence and a sense of peace during the process of preparing for the arrival of our son. Her positive, warm and friendly attitude helped us to keep our focus and make important decisions during the hardest moments of pregnancy and labor, and when I started facing challenges during the first days of my breastfeeding journey, Elizabeth was there for us. We have learned so much from you…(I still have a folder with all the articles you recommended and materials from our classes and meetings) :-)) Doulas are a blessing to our society.
Elizabeth of Birth First changed the way I saw childbirth and empowered me to have the type of birth I’d envisioned. I hired her for my second child’s birth after not being happy with my first child’s birth where I was highly pressured to be induced. During my 2nd pregnancy Elizabeth helped me navigate all the sources out there available to pregnant women and curated reading sources about nutrition, birth planning, and birth exercises that were relevant to my needs. She worked with my husband to help him help me. She labored with us at home and helped us at the hospital. I could have birthed without her but I doubt I would have had such a beautiful birth. I was empowered in understanding what my body was capable and designed to do. I was able to enter the. hospital with knowledge and confidence to decline unnecessary interventions but still have a respectful and engaging relationship with hospital staff.
I can’t put into words how great Elizabeth is! I spoke to several Doulas before I came across Elizabeth. The minute I spoke with her, I knew she was someone I wanted by my side during labor. She is so knowledgable, thorough, friendly, and supportive . It was like I had my closest friend with me. She got along great with my family who were initially skeptical about me hiring a Doula. They are now the first to recommend her to anyone who is expecting! Elizabeth took the time to meet with me several times before the big day and really prepared me well since it was my first pregnancy and I really didn’t know what to expect. All I know is that I dreaded the pain that I thought would come but I never experienced that pain. Elizabeth made me think so positively that I envisioned each contraction as a wave that came and went. The biggest testament to Elizabeth’s ability is that I’m someone who cries from a mere paper cut yet I never once sobbed or cried out of pain during the entire labor! I absolutely love Elizabeth! Don’t think twice before hiring her! Even my doctor and the entire nursing staff commended her on a job well done! She helped me achieve a natural birth that I wanted but could’ve never had without her help!
Elizabeth was very reassuring and extremely approachable for our birthing experience. She was very easy to get a hold of and she stayed in the birthing suite long after the delivery to ensure everyone was comfortable. During labor, she paid attention to a lot of the details that ended up making a huge difference. I have already referred her services to a colleague and soon to be first time mom.
Elizabeth was a wonderful birth companion for the birth of our first child at home. Her vast knowledge of comfort measures, as well as the process of labor and birth, were extremely valuable during a very long labor that lasted several days. Elizabeth stayed with us by our side supporting us with aromatherapy, pressure points, rebozo, massage, visualization, affirmations, among others. She was able to help improve baby’s position at one point during labor with hands on adjustments. Her bright personality and calm demeanor made a difference for us in creating a positive birth experience. She truly went above and beyond to support us, and we are extremely grateful to have had her guidance during pregnancy and labor and delivery. She is an outstanding birth professional!
I highly recommend Elizabeth Cano-Correa as a birth doula – she was with us for the birth of our son, Eli – March 19, 2016
She was kind, caring, and incredibly skilled – I don’t think I could have had the birth I wanted without her. She helped us prepare for the birth by practicing pain management techniques; explaining and understanding my preferences, options, and strategies to make sure our wishes were honored, and going over details for when labor began.
She was available for support by phone/email up until birth. Her support during the birth was amazing – she was by our side as a coach and support person and made sure that our key wishes were honored immediately after birth (skin-to-skin contact, delayed cord clamping, and breastfeeding before anything else was done). She also visited our home once again after the birth to follow-up. Can’t say enough good things about her!
Jaime, mom of 5yr old Sammy and baby Eli!
We were very fortunate to have Elizabeth as our doula. She is an experienced, compassionate and positive minded person who had an immense impact on our birth experience.
My wife and I, expecting our first baby, wanted a doula who had experience, shared our philosophy of a natural birth, and with whom we would feel comfortable in our most intimate and stressful moments. We met a few doulas before deciding to work with Elizabeth as we felt she had all the qualities we were looking for. She was an important part of our team and continuously found ways to help us out.
The introductory meeting and Q&A, and in-person sessions to go over the labor pain relief techniques were very helpful and hands on. Having one-on-one sessions with her was very valuable and made us feel prepared and ready. Also during the pregnancy there will be many times when you want an informed and unbiased opinion – about various tests, exams, supplements etc., and Elizabeth is always willing and able to help. In fact many times she went beyond our already high expectations.
She helped us prepare a birth plan that reflected our philosophy and was very supportive of things we cared about.
During the birth, Elizabeth was extremely calm, helpful and made us feel comfortable. The pregnancy and birth process is a very exciting time, but it is also an uncertain time, and having Elizabeth’s experience, mindfulness and positive-energy on our team made a huge difference for us.
We are forever thankful to Elizabeth for her help, support and kindness!
Mrs. Elizabeth Cano-Correa was my childbirth educator and my birth doula. She helped me to have an excellent natural unmedicated delivery in the hospital. She gave me private birthing classes at my home in Manhattan. She also helped my husband to be much more relaxed by guiding him through massage techniques for my hips and other parts of my body. This helped me to have a calm and successful birth.
She is a loving person with a big heart, yet she is always very professional. She accompanied me to the hospital and helped me a lot with massages and aromatherapy. She patiently talked me through the pain I felt. At times, she even made me laugh, making me forget my pain for a few seconds!
She also helped my husband to talk to the nurse and midwife about my birth plan when I could not do so anymore because of my contractions. I am very grateful to Elizabeth Cano-Correa for her patience and the help she gave me so I could have a successful, natural, medication free birth!!
